Something she had said during one of her first days of rehearsal – she, Troy, Alex, and April had been having a conversation about which instruments each played – sprang to his mind: “Piano? I can play a little, doll. Not well, but enough to get by and vocalize.”

She didn’t need an accompanist. Not to warm up her voice.

Playing the seductress made her hotter than playing piano.

“James? James?!”

James blinked, realizing she had stopped while he was daydreaming. He stilled his fingers, the last chord still ringing through the room. “Y-Yes? Sorry, Vanessa.”

“It’s okay. Doll, I can’t really hear myself, or the piano with all that racket upstairs.” She motioned vaguely towards the ceiling. “I was thinking maybe if I sat on top,” she ran her tongue over her plump lips, “of the piano, I could hear better.”

James sucked in a slow breath as she disentangled her leg from his, her heel scraping deliberately up his calf. “Do you – ” he started, trailing off as she stood up, turning so that her generous rear was practically in his face. He smiled, tempted to spank the plump flesh. But no, she wanted someone that she could lure into her trap.

She pouted down at him, her hands resting on the surface of the lid. “Give me a boost, doll?” she wheedled, blinking coquettishly as one of her feet gently nudged against his.

James nodded, standing, feeling only slight hesitation as he heard the group upstairs singing another scale. This wasn’t exactly the most discrete of places and she was not quiet – perhaps not the best of ideas considering his engagement and her marriage. Perhaps he really should just help her warm up her voice before they were caught at this turned sour. Still, there was a certain thrill at the possibility of danger behind her plan, surely why she’d led him down here.

Enclosing his hands around her waist – the delicious scent of cinnamon apple laced with a trace of vanilla washing over him as she wrapped her arms around his neck to stabilize herself – he lifted her up onto the lid of the piano. He swallowed thickly, letting her body brushed against his as he lifted her, his lips tantalizingly close to hers as he settled her on the edge of the piano, pretending to be oblivious.

“Thank you, James,” she murmured lowly, heat settling in his groin as she tucked a lock of his chestnut hair behind his ear before retracting her hands.

“No problem, Vanessa.” James cleared his throat again, forcing himself to pull away and sit back down on the piano bench. He poised his fingers over the soft, ivory keys, trying to remember what key they had been in when they left off and failing miserably.

“A, doll,” Vanessa supplied helpfully, balancing one of her heels on the flipped-up lid of the keys and the other deliberately dangling in James’s face as she crossed her legs.

James blinked stupidly at her shoe for a minute – the leather scent wafting up to his nose – before glancing up at her.
